I guess if some kids are home schooled, they could have this kind of science hidden from them. But I believe they need to pass qualification testing in science to move on and graduate. I don't know of any schools that don't teach evolution.
I certainly wouldn't argue that evolution disproves god. But it comes up often on these forums because Fundamentalists so often believe that evolution would disprove their conception of god. Which is why the Bible Belt has so many creationists trying to "teach the controversy" in schools.
I don't base my lack of belief in god on evolution. I base it on lack of evidence of god.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
