In my mind, everything that we become in life is the result of a two part process. Simply put, the first part is our genes structuring our brains in such a way that we have a propensity toward certain things (depression, obesity, mood disorders, thrill seeking, etc.). The second part is the way we are brought up and our experiences triggering or suppressing these 'genetic propensities.' (for lack of a better term) I honestly believe that this is correct. The good news is that I will never blame my problems on god.
