A little bit of menace, a little bit of learned avoidance, goes a looooong way for me. I work while I watch the kids. It's not an ideal situation but it is what it is. I'm also trying to teach my stubborn ass son a lesson about bullying (specifically that there's always a bigger bully). Thing is, he's harder than a gypsy boxer and built like a brick shithouse. When he swings his mitts into his sisters face he gets a swift pop on the ass - followed by a hefty stretch in solitary. If he wasn't capable of hurting her as much as he is, or if he responded to well reasoned explanations with regards to why you shouldn't hit your sister - then I'd have some options.Yep. Life ain't ideal. Sometimes you have to use the tools at hand.
I've explained to my kids, more times than I can count, about all the things that might seriously hurt them, but you know kids...sometimes they've just gotta test that, eh?
