I agree with the rest of your post 100%. Parenthood Is simple... Until you have to do it. It's a well known truth that in medicine it's very unwise to treat your own children. You have no objectivity. That's why gps take their kids to other gps. And why I so often find myself thinking "shit, could have done that better. It's easy to raise other people's kids!
Ok, I get discovering you agree with someone you hardly ever agree with. But your religious circles must be different than mine because I know more Christian spankers. The hard core non spanking parents I've known have been deists, Buddhists, or just very liberal. Though they sometimes snap as the child gets older and go hard over to spanking.

The bible does directly tell parents that corporal punishment is the way forward.
