It's also a dangerous precedent. The uk govt has implemented this in the full knowledge that they will later push through an amendment to make it legal for them to gain access to content of calls/ emails/ texts , and the only ones that will be exempt will be security services.
If that's not Orwellian I don't know what is.
Also bearing in mind that this is exactly what the UK govt tried to do the other year but were stopped by it being rejected by the lib dems.theyve used the whole 'we won't get access to content' to water it down so it would get cross party support.
