The studies referenced in the early part of this article are valid studies, some of the more significant studies have been carried out by psychologist Dr Justin Barrett at Oxford University starting back in 2008.
The question I find interesting is this. Why is it that some people are ready to dismiss scientific theory that happens not to fit their ideology, and accept others which do? That does not sound very rational to me.
You can reject these studies if you like but they are peer reviewed and published by well respected scientists. Ignoring them is no better than the distortions imagined by the religious zealots intent on dismembering the body of knowledge that is science.
Having said all that the article does used some very imprecise language to represent the arguments in an effort, it would seem, to foster misinterpretation.

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)
