Yeah, most of that stuff is over-stated. The fact is that the ANE had plenty of dying/resurrected vegetation gods and people like Acharya S. hurt their case by trying to tie every aspect of the much-later jesus story into them.
These gods/goddesses were invented to explain the changing of the seasons and that was an important consideration for agricultural societies of primitive men. There is no need to try to tie Dionysius and Tammuz and jesus together in too tight a yoke.
