You completely and utterly missed Kipling's point, I think. He was writing about the maltreatment of soldiers, not about the eagerness of chicken hawks to wage unwinnable, unjustifiable wars.
And Kipling would have been among the first to praise Snowden for exposing illegal surveillances on private citizens.
