So it's "either/or" with this guy (i.e., one extreme or the other, no middle ground.) Typical christian "thinking."

I disagree. It is not typical. Not uncommon, but this personality type is not dependant on belief. A nice guy is a nice guy. Of course if I am wrong and you are right. These fundie Christians are right also.
But I am right.
