Ok how's this, the emotional center of the brain is so close physically to the emotional memory and memory section. Since memory is primarily under the control of the abstract concept of time, it would reason that the strength or development of emotion would also be based off of a time line. That leads to thoughts that hate come from the action of resenting which takes time.
