But that's only a balm for the daily tortures they have to endure in their schools and neighborhoods if they are "out".
I think it's kind of like race in america. While the court cases have come down on the side of equality and culturally the majority has claimed it's acceptance there is still a vast and pervasive web of intolerance that exists below the surface.
That's really tough. Living in secular Europe where gay marriage is common and people's human rights are respected, it's shameful that the US dosn't adopt the same standards.
