The non-radical ones will say that those passages are being used "out of context" or some other bullshit excuse. Would a Christian that stones someone to death for blasphemy be a radical one or not? They are just following the bible. Go to Africa and watch Christians murder gay people for a modern day example.
It is the rise of secular values in the West that has forced modern Christianity to adapt and lose the more barbaric elements. The same has happened to many Muslims living in the West, though it is a slow process.
I'd recommend reading "The Looming Tower" which is an account of the roots of modern extreme Islam up to the 9/11 attacks.
