Misconceptions about Homosexuality

In the off chance this thread does not instantly derail into something else, for the purposes of this discussion I'd like to define 'Homosexuality' : pertaining to, or noting the same sex.

I'm going to have to question these definitions... instead of showing the numerous potential flaws and uncertainties... allow me to offer an alternative:

Why instead don't we simplify the definition of 'homosexual' to being what you mean to describe (which seems to be simply 'Androphiliac male (to the exclusion of other attractions? Not certain if you intend this.)' and 'Gynephiliac female (again to the exclusion of other attractions?)'. Or do we mean to refer exclusively not to the people involved in the attractions but rather to the form of attraction itself... which would be homosexphilia (or some other similarly intended word, as I'm uncertain of how to conjugate that properly... and again... is this meant to be exclusive from all other attractions a person might have (meaning that they are solely attracted to the same sex as themself))?.

Sex being the reproductive organs you were born with. No different than if I went and grabbed two frogs out of my pond and determined their "sex" by examining their reproductive organs.
In short, Saerules is welcome to share in the Gay response.

I agree that I am of the male sex (and despite my pestering adrian once or twice... I still can't change my noted sex on the forum without giving people the wrong idea), and further agree with your 'definition' of it However... I don't think it would necessarily be appropriate for me to 'share' in the 'gay response'... as to do so I would have to be gay (I'm assuming you mean this as exclusive attraction? :S I certainly am androphiliac... but hardly exclusively so...). Not like it's going to stop me from saying what I will... but thought I should ask anyway ^_<

Misconceptions about Homosexuality
I think I may have some. Since these boards seem to be dominated by the gay-folk maybe I can have some of my personal conclusions debunked or affirmed "straight from the horse's mouth", so to speak.

So these questions or misconceptions of mine are directed at the Gay/Homosexual members here, males or females.

1.) Promiscuity.

Gay people will 'do' anything or anyone. This seems to be the reason (since I asked the last one who did this and received no answer, I feel compelled to go with my own conception, or misconception) lots of gay-folk feel the need to announce the sexual preferance at first introduction. "Hi my name is Gaylord and I'm Gay!" or "My name is Stroker and I am a gay/homosexual (fill in the blank)."

I disagree.... some people (not necessarily "gay" or "straight" or "aliens" or even me) will have sex with <anyone or at least a large number of people>... but I hardly could think it is related to being 'gay'... that simply wouldn't make any sense

I also find it strange that some "gay" people identify with that status so much that they would introduce themselves with it... but I hardly think it is anything more than their own self identification. Perhaps they only want to hang with people cool with their being "gay", and so they find out who they can hang with by saying that immediately.

It's like when someone introduces themselves with a title such as "Hi my name is Dotard and I'm an air-conditioning technician." it's included in case you need some a/c repairs. Or "Hi! My name is Shister. I am a realitor." it's included just in case you are in the market for some reality services. "Hi my name is Shelby, I'm a writer." on the off chance you may be looking to pay a writer to have something written.

Or perhaps because they identify with their status as an A/C tech, realty, or writing that they note it as a significant part of who they are.

So when I hear "I'm Frank and I'm Gay". I'm hearing "I'm Frank and I'll suck your dick. Not that you're looking for a man to suck your dick, just throwing that out there."

Are all Gay people Promiscuous?

If you were at a pub... i should think that your return to hearing "I'm Frank and I'm gay" should be "Do you want to suck my penis?". Elsewhere though, it's much more likely that they simply identify with their status of being "gay". I myself identify with being a gamer, eccentric, an existentialist, a human, and some other few things.

Not all "gay" people are promiscuous... though some certainly are. Myself? I should think everyone here would already now the answer to that
