Yes, 'homosexuals' can do the same. By choice? Not necessarily... not to imply that it is not by choice.
By the way... after a conversation with leo recently... I've discovered it would be more correct for what you appeared to suggest to say monophilogamous (one sexual bond) rather than monogamous (one bond).
