It wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been linked to highlander. It made no sense if you had seen the first film.
Highlander canon is really difficult because of the last few minutes of the original. I omit the last few minutes of Highlander and attach Highlander: the series, followed up by Endgame. Highlander 2, 3 and 5 never happened in my mind.
The bar has risen to new heights with shows like The Sopranos, The Wire, Lost, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, but in 90's Highlander and X-Files was as good as it got for me.
