You can definitely try to do this, but you have more important things to worry about than becoming mentally uncomfortable with your situation, like exposure and death. I helped a homeless man get an interview as a groundskeeper in my building and he said that even though like me he doesn't believe in God (he doesn't really know what to believe) he's not going to turn down a kind offer just because it's from a church.
