It's more cultural than anything. Sure, on the extreme end of the spectrum you've got countries like those in the middle east, where having a different religion can kill you, but in more moderate countries you can still see regional influences. Here in the US most people are Christian, in India most people are Hindu, and in Sweden most people are atheist (
). In India, Christianity is in the public consciousness about as much as Hinduism is in that of the U.S. You really can't say where you're born doesn't matter.
