It's come to mean in common parlance someone who foretells the future, but to the Hebrews a prophet was a man regarded as an inspired teacher or proclaimer of the will of God.

Dark Matter is what the cause for the observed gravitational effects is called. Causeless effects seem to be limited to the quantum level of reality within our universe, so it's reasonable to infer that the cause for the effect exists.
