ironically my character in fallout 3 used that argument to convince a computer to self destruct?
Quote:Player-"You can't be president. you're an abortion of science. you need to die..."
Computer-"Really... do go on"
P-"You aren't programmed for self-awareness you said so yourself"
C-"This is quite true. the process was certainly unintended, but shouldn't we all be thankful that i'm here now"
P-"But how do you know that what you're doing is right"
C-"Because unlike humans, i'am infallible"
P-"and how do you know you're infallible"
C-"...because i have been programmed to be, of course!"
P-"Thats circular logic. you know because you know, that makes no sense"
C-"Processing... internal logic error detected"
P-"i think you're delusional, i think the world would be better off without you"
C-"resetting primary memory circuits. please stand by. Perhaps... perhaps there is a problem. Iam... iam unsure how to proceed"
P-"I think it's time you put an end to this once and for all"
C-"Analizing command new course of dictacted. self destruct sequence initialized"
Ironically if i substitute player with atheist, computer with religious person, and computer terms with religious terms, it's exactly the same rebuttal that is used to show any theistic holy book as false, except that the computer accepted the logic and acts according to it, religious deny it, they should behave like the computer self-destruction and "it's time you put an end to this once for all, religion"
