1. Regarding the Canaanites, et al: If God was so farputzt over the alleged child sacrifices, why didn't he simply put a stop to it, instead of having the Israelites go kill-crazy on all of their neighbours? Also, if God didn't like child sacrifice, why did he go to the bother of getting Abraham to think he did?
2. Regarding Elisha and the bears: Firstly, the relevant word isn't 'mauled', but 'tare' (tore or torn). The kids (adolescents, if you like) were ripped, torn, clawed by bears, pure and simple. And all for the non-crime of poking fun at an old man. And for the record, there is no conceivable meaning for 'maul' that equates to 'punch.
3. Regarding the rape in Judges 19: For those who don't know, here's the nub of it: In order to be left in peace, a man sends his concubine out to a mob, who gang rape her until morning. When the man sees her lying at the threshold the next day, she doesn't respond. He takes her to his house, dismembers her, and sends the parts to each of the 12 Tribes. There it is - slavery, betrayal, rape and dismemberment. Through it all, not a word of condemnation from God. Oh, and the butcher of the story? A Levite, one of that butchering lunatic Joshua's favourite tribes.
4. Regarding slavery: Servants? Are you fucking KIDDING me? Servants can quit, can look for a better job, can own property, can go home at the end of the day - NONE of which applies to the enslaved peoples of the Bible.
Well, that's that. You've managed to defend genocide, the mutilation of children, gang rape, murder and slavery - all in defense of your loving God.
Guess what? You've not done any better than anyone else who has run this fool's errand.
