The more I study Islam, the more I have a sense of deja-vu to the time when I began to critically examine Christianity. In all the ways that matter, these religions are virtually the same. As I try to engage Islamic apologists, I run into almost identical arguments to what the Christians use, as if cut-and-paste using a find/change function with the name of the religion.
Regarding what you posted, the same is true of Christianity. If you want to know about the Bible, you have to ask an atheist. Many of them tell me they're ex-Christians and what got them started down the road to reason was reading the Bible.
This is why I like using the term "Islamo-Christianity".
