What a waste of time and money.I was hospitalized in 2005 for a few things I have dealt with since I was a kid. That was the first time I saw a psychiatrist and dealt with the problem with psychiatric drugs.
I told him he should not waste his time going but it gives him a reason to get out of the house.

My problem was / is not the Dr it was religion telling me it was "god teaching me" or "that evil one attacking me again". Funny thing, it never got better through prayer, and I tried. It has got better to some extent because I chose to take matters into my own hands, along with the meds.
Each person is different, so I can not speak for your friend. However, the drugs I take allow me to lead a great life with out alcohol masking everything.
