Why Would God Hide?

I'll ignore the obvious quote mine to ask exactly where science is "employed" in detecting intelligent design?

for instances: - SETI, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, is an exploratory science that seeks evidence of life in the universe by looking for some signature of a designed electrical magnetic technology.
- crick and orgel in their book Directed Panspermia purposed that that thru dna scientific analysis of living organisms, the dna signature could be identified which most likely originated from an alien intelligences that had let 'sailed' micro-organism that reached the earth.
- archaeologist study artifacts produced by human design.
- anthropologists study the bipedal primate fossil records to discriminate between stones that were intelligently designed tools and those formed by forces of nature.

This isn't the kind of "intelligent design" that most Christians are talking about when they use the term. It has nothing whatsoever to do with gods of any sort. Also, I highly doubt that panspermia accepted as true by even a sizable minority of the scientific community, but even if aliens had seeded us, those aliens themselves would have had to have come from somewhere, rendering their "intelligent design" a moot point.
