Here's the thing - the consideration of "what they need" is often impossible. You don't know for certain how they'd react - for all you know, convincing your roommate of actual atheism (not the "angry at god" variety she has probably been told about) might actually be better for her. On the other hand, you are not responsible for her or for what she needs. So, as a matter of course, I'd suggest live and let live - but if her beliefs start becoming inconvenient for you, blast them to hell.
