The concept of that movie is a bit stupid.
We DO use all of our brain, a 100% of it. What we don't use if the full potential of it, like with training we can gain sharper memory, be better at maths, e.t.c.
But then again if you smoke a shit ton of weed or mix a exotic new drug in your blood stream, then you can easily travel through space and time, become a fairy and flutter over Losty's head, warp reality, understand animals, hear colors, see sounds and whole lot of other things.
My theory:
Due to the drugs, she acted like a psychopath in the beginning, just like a raging addict. As she increased her dosage, she began to lose it completely. At the end when the scientists pumped her full of that shit, she moved on (maybe exploded MWAHAHA), and somehow the drug got mixed in the air making nearby people hallucinate.
