Why Something Rather Than Nothing?

I ask: Why is there something rather than nothing?

Nothing is the absence of everything which is defined by a collection of something.

We certainly do not explain why "2 + 2 = 4" is true

0 = 0
4-4 = 10-10
(2-2)(2+2) = 5(2-2)
2+2 = 5

The only non-thing that can conceivably fit that description is "goodness."

Why? Why can't it be sadness, evilness, darkness, and lochness.
