Atheists only: Do you believe in Absolute/Universal Truth?

By this I mean do you believe truths exist that are ALWAYS true regardless of time, location, or circumstance? I don't intend to challenge any belief in this thread... I am simply taking note of them and categorizing them statistically.

I gather from a later clarification that you mean absolute moral truth. Human's concept of moral truth changes with time and place. So no.

Quote:Universal/Absolute truth would imply the existence of God, as it goes beyond chemical reaction and matter.
I don't think absolute moral truth would imply the existence of god. The gods invented so far, aren't very moral in my judgment. They behave like spoiled children most of the time.

Quote:It is a spiritual concept, for instance "thou shalt do no murder" would be considered by a theist to be universally/absolutely true.

The man who wrote this was a theist: "Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!" Psalm 137:9 Isn't dashing babies' heads in murder? I could go on and on with god sanctioned murder in the OT. The Koran is no better. Frankly, belief in a god often leads to belief in all sorts of killing. Theism does not necessarily lead to thou shalt not kill.

Quote: "For God so loved the world" would be another truth they recognize as universal.

Really? It's not a Jewish concept or a Muslim one as far as I know. It's a Christian concept.

Quote:So does the Atheist believe in a spiritual concept, or do they believe absolute/universal truth does not exist?

An atheist could believe in spirituality, absolute, morals, or reincarnation, and still be an atheist. An atheist is a person who does not believe in a god or gods. That's it.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
