I'm kinda surprised they got away with it. I've lived most my life in the deep south and as far as I can tell, damn near every politician knows that there are two things they can never question: the Bible and the NRA. For school officials to expell students over guns means something else is up and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if race was the big divider here.
I swear, if you ever want to watch the Republicans (and, consequentially, Alabama) do a complete 360 on their gun policy, just get a large enough group of disenfranchised black people to start a second amendment group to stand up to police (*Cough*Furgeson *Cough*). After all, the only people who need to worry about being persecuted by the state are the people who have never had to worry about that, right?
