The problem with not having some empathy is that you still live under the same government they control. I don't feel sorry for my opposition in any logical argument sense. But I will never advocate scapegoating politics. Private blasphemy and debate is one thing, politicians have a far different role.
Scapegoating is when you assign blame to a convenient group for something that they -didn't- do. There's little doubt that people who licked trumps hole for the camera or at the ballot box are complicit in their continued misery.
