I have always believed that the 2003 invasion of Iraq was sold to the American public on a lie. Where I differ from the leftie lunatics like DeistPaladin is nature of the lie. The leftie lunatics want you to believe that Bush lied about the presence of WMD. I think Bush believed there was WMD just like Clinton before him did. Bush was lying about the presence of WMD as being the motivation for the invasion. I think other motivations were at play and if Bush sold the "war" on those true motivations....he wouldn't have gotten public or congressional support.
If Bill Maher can give Gruber a pass because he thinks it is okay to lie to the American public because the American public is stupid to know what is good and bad.....then Bush should get a a pass for the exact same reason. Bush basically felt we needed to do this invasion for reasons X and Y but the American Public would be too stupid to see it was good for our country. So he presented reason Z which really wasn't a reason at all....but the stupid american public would believe it was a good reason.
I believe in crowd wisdom...which requires our leaders to be upfront about things. Our leaders should present us with straight facts and then let us decide what is good for the country and what isn't.
