-Salt, Snow, all you need is salt to "regulate" what enters and exits a cell (you can use almost anything - but relative salinity will give you one of the more pronounced effects...which probably explains why it's so prevalent in living creatures - its how plants, for example: "pull water"). This takes neither planning nor a fancy membrane. Gratz on this thread though, you've managed to erect a colossal monument to ignorance. I hope you never let it die.
The membrane allow and disallows various substances by various specific channels within the membrane. Glucose molecules for example need to have an insulin molecule attached to gain entry thru a specific membrane gate or channel, and as such these type substances needs to be ‘actively’ transported thought to the cell by the expenditure of ATP energy. The mosaic structure to accommodate the various substances to first sense to allow or disallow, and then later transport thru the membrane is highly intricate.

The single cell itself and the membrane are both complex. Both system would have to arise simultaneously which hasn't been demonstrated by the evolution paradigm, not even close. The current cells around us are very complex because they had millions of years of evolution. The first cell would be no where near that complex.
A model that has pre-planning is obviously required.
