The problem with that is, the definition doesn't really fit the word anymore and this new wave of feminism is just ridiculously dogmatic and crazy. The real definition of gender equality is an Egalitarian, not just focusing on one gender like Feminism does. And notice, they only care about the women of the western society where they have it the best and even have more rights than men. Where are these feminists for women in the middle east or Africa with actual patriarchies...
Your lack of knowledge on the subject doesn't prove anything. And the fact middle eastern or African women have it badly, doesn't invalidate fighting for equality everywhere else.
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you
