As long as the ship can be fueled, it will keep accelerating and it will eventually approach the speed of light. There are studies on a magnetic field to deflect micrometeorites.

the faster an object travels the greater the damage it will experience from collision with space debris. aka, the hubble space telescope's solar panels has silver dollar size holes due to it's collision velocity with micrometeorites because damage is geometric to velocity... it all about the physics.
