I didn't think that overt prop pieces required a mention. They're pretty heinous.
@Brain..yeah, all or nothing, with you or against you. Here, I'll play a tune and you can dance to it. Perhaps you missed the not-so-hidden implication in my post...that maybe we ought to enforce any of the numerous existing regulations before putting our chips in with your hare-brained suggestion. I have no problem with regulation - in fact...I;m kind of fond of regulation. Seems like a good idea to me. It's just that your idea -doesn't-.
Take a walk with me, for a moment - to a place where one side pretends as if there are no decent gun laws and the other side, the very antithesis of what the former adheres to in every way pretends......as if there are no decent gun laws. Where the only thing on equal footing with the nutjobs on one side, are the nutjob suggestions of the other. The only thing you both agree on......is that you'd like to ignore prudent regulation in favor of your disparate fantasies. If one side were truly opposed to the others position, it's difficult to see why you both seem intent on making the discussion so convenient for each other. Take a shot of your own medicine and consider, just for a moment...that -you- are part of the problem...and not the solution.
Why is it that neither party seems to be interested in enforcing the law? There's more than a little bit of irony to be had here, if you take a moment to appreciate it. Before anyone pops in with a "both sides" remark....let me just make this very clear. I'm just about certain that there is only one side here - to which you are both necessary and appreciated contributors, even if you are unintentional collaborators. Your cartoon gun tycoon is laughing his ass all the way to the bank, if he exists. The position you oppose wins by default, on account of the stadium being empty when it's time to play ball. Just food for thought.
On a less irritating note, anyone read that excerpt? Thoughts?

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
