The colon's maiming alone, and a couple of days behind that non-functionality, and you've got some serious discomfort to shove back into a person. More of a long term infliction. Can remove their intestine painfully that way. Cruel as fuck, though.
Simply... there is nothing that you can do with a *broomstick* that isn't better done by sharpening one end of it, and breaking it in half (two feet is still a good length for putting weight into). Many more angles possible, including the much beloved on their hands and knees. So hard to do that with a 3.5-4.5 foot long broomstick.
