I'm confused. Wasn't she his own daughter? Wouldn't giving money to the mother (his wife) mean giving money to himself...?
Yes, the child was his own daughter. The mother asked for blood money on the assumption that he was to be incarcerated for years and that she would need the money to raise their children.
