RE: Christians, where does your allegiance lie? - Jesus Christ or Bible

Joe Smith was convinced the bible, as it existed in 1820/30, was a hopelessly corrupted version of what existed at the time of Jesus in regards to the old testament, and also hopelessly corrupted in regards to the subsequent new testament. IIRC, at that time, the oldest biblical texts known were around 1000 years old. Joe posited the early church and then the Catholics revised, revised, rewrote and rewrote the bible till virtually nothing was left that was correct.
Joe set about restore the 'true' church. He announced numerous revelations towards that end, he also rewrote the bible (I'm not discussing the Book of Mormon, to be clear) at the order of God and at His direction, restoring it's original correct form. Implicit in this, is the promise that as older and older copies of the bible might be discovered, we will see a progression in the texts to his corrected version. He also announced a revelation from God directing his church to publish his corrected bible. Joe was relentless and vehement in his criticism of the Catholic church in particular for corrupting the bible.
Curiously, as older texts were discovered, going clear back to the Dead Sea Scrolls, they much more strongly resembled the texts already known in Joe's time than to his version.
Ooops.
Additionally, to this day, over 175 years later, his church has steadfastly declined to publish Joe's version of the bible, despite the direct order of God to do so.
The RLDS (currently Community of Christ) did publish Joe's version, and Mormon scholars have confirmed the RLDS publication is faithful to the copy of Joe's version in the Mormon archive.
Additionally, revealingly, tragically and humorously, the Mormon church has made over 3000 edits, to date, to the Book of Mormon, despite it's pronouncement at the time of it's original reception direct from God, of being the most perfect book ever.
Hard to imagine any outsider doing a better job of falsifying Mormonism than the Mormons have done themselves.
May Zeus bless them !!!

The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
