What is faith when you think about it? Faith is accepting something as if true you haven't verified or cannot check yourself.
You're trusting that the information is right. The same way you trust your wife not to bang the milkman. You've no guarantee she won't, but you trust...have faith in her that she wont.
The terms are interchangeable really, only difference being the f-word got hijacked by the theologians. I trust scientific findings too, but I haven't actually checked most of them myself, I just trust that the peer reviews of new findings are impartial and accurate.
