From what I understand, only the Authority of Christ Jesus invokes the spiritual energy level that can get rid of the Satan and occult curses and demons that get invoked with black magic.
the other means of trying to heal or ward off these negative energies aren't strong or universal enough, and get caught up in them. The negative energy is too strong, except for the concentrated and centralized prayers in Christ Jesus that claim authority over all other levels of laws, natural or spiritual.
Black magic? Negative spiritual energy? We're in the 21st century now, Emily.
I'd ask for evidence of any of this, but I suspect that would be a waste of both yours and my time.
I believe science can prove this, by measuring the difference in energy and also the effects of healing on schizophrenic patients who no longer are plagued by voices after they go through the treatment. this has significant impact on mental health and criminal justice reform, so it is just a matter of time before medical research catches up with the priests and doctors who have been practicing this already.
Sources: Dr. Scott Peck "Glimpses of the Devil" where he thought it was dark age nonsense also until he took on two cases of schizophrenic patients and found out these methods of diagnosis treatment and cure worked and followed set patterns and stages like curing other diseases. "Healing" by Dr. Francis MacNutt who also thought this was dark age myth until he saw proof how it worked and has been teaching it since.
