If a modern-day Socrates appeared on the scene with the means to engage our 'leaders' in a sufficiently public way, the GOP and the Democrats would join together in a rare show of bi-partisanship to have him drink the hemlock once again. As it is, their stooges in the media and in the 'think tanks' would simply marginalize him.
And the last thing these bastards want is an education system based on the Socratic method. A nation of curious free thinkers with the bad manners to question the status quo and the wisdom of elected officials would be unacceptable and bad for business as usual.
