Personally I've noticed no difference in happiness between theists and atheists. Sounds like you've run into a lot who are down on their luck.
Probably, but to run down others beliefs for your own benefit, is stupid and childish to me, and I don't believe in god either.

Good on you, I'm the same, my life didn't start until I left religion, but still there were many who loved their religion. I was a Seventh day Adventist, and it is known that Adventist live longer than most, because of their diet and contentment.
