Yeah, the bible is pretty easy on rapists. It even punishes rape victims.

But that was a different culture, and it's not like God could just tell them what to do and what not to do. That would never work.

It is ridiculous that an all powerful god cannot think of a better way to deal with people who are misbehaving, other than slaughtering them and their children.

You use the word "misbehaving" as some kind of euphemism for burning children alive! How ridiculous is that?

I mean, when I go down and get some cereal, sometimes I go into the street and beat a baby and some dogs to death. Not always, I'm not a psycho.

Again, you dismiss the perpetrators as somehow guiltless. Say your neighbor gave his son to a priest, who then sacrificed that child by fire. Then, someone comes along and shoots the priest, the priest's children, and the neighbor who gave up the child to be burned alive. Would you say justice was done?

I certainly would. In fact, I'd say the priest's children were lucky to receive bullets instead of being burned alive themselves.

The point of the Bible illustrating all of this is to demonstrate the severity of God's wrath. It's no joke, and woe to those who think it is.
