Hey Wiggy, It doesn’t seem like you’re here to see how atheists think. If you’ve debated many atheists, then you should know how we think and you should know that we are not certain there is no god. We pretty much think it is highly unlikely that there is one. You should also know that quoting scripture doesn’t mean anything. That’s like me quoting Harry Potter and believing the spells are real. If you think you have all the answers, then you have none. Again, quoting scripture isn’t having answers. You say you have answers pertaining to many false gods yet you don’t think of your own as a false god. Going off of Dawkins here, what if you’re wrong? What if you were born in Iraq or Afghanistan? You would believe that god was the one and only and every other god was a false god. As the saying goes, everyone is an atheist; we just go one god further.
What evidence do you have? What have you seen? What do you feel and what have you experienced? Not that a feeling would be evidence of anything, but just curious to see what you revere as evidence. If your *gracious* god gives you hope and love for humanity, where has he been for the last 2,000 years and where was he before that? I’m of course assuming you’re not a young earth subscriber. I agree with one thing you say and that is “we are a vapour” cause in the grand picture, we are a speck of nothing, and I think we are lucky to have that “nothing”. Theists think that atheists think the world is all about them and that we hold ourselves in high regards. That’s true to a certain extent in the fact that we don’t give credit to a god when something good happens or ask him for the strength when something bad does. We take credit for what we do and we make things right when it’s bad. Why would you not give credit to your own species for all the accomplishments we’ve achieved? With that said, we think highly of ourselves, but at the same time, I admit, in the big picture, we are nothing and we are lucky to have that “nothing”.
You saying “I don’t know why so many hate god” is a false statement. We don’t hate god and we don’t hate Jesus. We simply do not believe that they exist and that a man was divine 2,000 years ago. You cannot hate what you don’t think exists. You say the gospel is about love but it sounds like you’re choosing to ignore all the negative in the bible. It’s not all pretty you know.
If Christianity makes too much sense to you, why would you hope that you are wrong? And telling us we’re going to hell, that’s just not cool. We know you’re not going to hell, but that’s cause we know hell isn’t a real place, just like heaven and purgatory for that matter. Even the kid who “saw heaven” and made money off those books and movie admitted it was all a lie. He did it for publicity… I supposed he is a liar and a “sinner” but if he repents to god all will be forgiven.. smh.. what a copout…
Oh and I’ve seen several people ask, but im going to ask it again anyway… When did science prove the “soul” is a tangible thing? I’d love to read that paper…
Thanks, Christopher
