Come now, I'm married to a Georgian, born and raised. And I suspect him of being smarter than I am (don't tell him that). But then he did decide not to spend his adult life in the South.
Or to put it another way, in the age of the TV, radio, and the internet, being born in the South is no excuse.
I sometimes think of myself as a "southern gentleman". Of course, that might mean something different to me than it does to others.
