You might want to ask those who are violently murdered and their families why a barbaric act shouldn't draw the punishment equal to the crime.

Then again, you might not. Such people tend to have very emotional reactions to the question and seldom have the qualifications one would look for in appointing one to opine on such ethical and legal questions. No, I rather think it's a bad idea. And I rather suspect you only suggested it to make an appeal to emotion in lieu of a rational argument for said capital punishment. (Not to mention that asking the violently murdered is rather unproductive as they are dead.)

Yes I know the dead can't answer us, at least directly, their lives could tell us if we look. My whole point was to get him to think about the situation if it were his family. There was a double murder here several years ago, it was as atrocious as one could imagine, no what they did was unimaginable. Almost everyone in this area thought the only punishment for the three men should have been death, some crimes are so awful they cry for equal punishment.

Again, either being a changed person matters under all circumstances and that would call for an evaluation of all inmates, regardless if they found Jesus or Mickey Mouse, or it doesn't. And on a side note, forensic science found out long ago that sociopaths are excellent manipulators and actors.

Meaning they are completely useless to society, will use it for their own wicked desires, why should we keep them alive to bleed down society.
