Anyone of a certain age who remembers some of the dreadful novelty hits of the '70s ("A Fifth of Beethoven"/"Disco Duck"/"Convoy"/"Playground in my Mind"/that synthesized popcorn song) knows damn well that the devil shot his wad in the evil music department -- and we survived. Every day since, including the unlamented '80s, has been gravy.
