Not quite the same is it. There is a difference to wearing what you want and being told to wear a specific item of clothing because a comic book said so. If you want a better comparison which would work for the 1970s, then it would be like someone who was wearing nice clothes because they are rich, and then you would have those who are on low-incomes or who are unemployed, thus they would buy cheap clothes or wear hand me downs. This is a much better comparison. Women wearing skirts one year, then there is a revolution, then the next, they are being told to wear hijabs. That is not free-will.
