The universe may very well be infinite, but everything that I observe, that can, at any time be a thing or activity to be observed, changes from one state to another, and each state is finite. And some states in which a thing exists are more cherished and valuable than others. Take your sunflower for example. It blooms, and it is beautiful, then it wilts and dies. It will eventually turn to dust, and the matter of which that dust is comprised will continue to exist, but certainly not in the same way that we cherished while in the form of the flower. Infinite as the substance of which the object may be, the essence of the flower, the part that we experienced and abstracted beauty from was finite. I tend to think that our existence is no different and I see no reason to cherish it any less. Quite the contrary, in fact.

I think the problem is you believe life/existance is like said sunflower. To a degree it is. However Infinate life is to the rest of the world and all the beauty and wonder it contains past present and future (on an infinate scale) if life is compared to just one sunflower.

Sure there is good, bad and mundain mixed in to the world, even so I do not know of anyone who would trade their experience/life time in the world for the existance/life cycle of a sunflower.

Meaning once we move past our 'sunflower stage' (This life) and experience the rest of eternity, no one would want to go back. Look at how humanity is built, look at what we like the things we dream, write and make movies about... It is all about moving forward, about progression about the next level of life. No one wants to return to caves or to devolve back onto slime monkeys. We as a soceity do not want to buy a I phone 4s for what a new 6+ costs. Why? because we have been built with a need or sense of urgency to evolve, to grow to fill this world, this life with as much as we can.

Once we move into the next life we will be able to do just that.
