I have some relatively distant acquaintances who are that religious. They're not bad people but when they talk of their faith I feel as if we literaly live in different dimentions with different history, laws of Physics and so on. A feeling that no sci-fi story may replicate. And I've noticed that all of them have rather vague knowledge of their religious documents but all those church miracles and rituals really mean a lot for their perception of the world. And they are usually into forms of superstition that are technically prohibited by the Church. These superstitions interfere with parts and bits of religious dogma they bear and form a truly weird picture of the world.
