A scene from the mini series 'Merlin' (the 1998 one starring Sam Neil) has just popped into my head:
There is a final confrontation with the evil goddess Queen Mab. The problem was solved when Merlin and all the people literally turned their backs on Mab and stopped believing in her. She lost her power and simply faded away,ceasing to exist.
Of course,the tragic irony is that Mab was replaced by Christianity. I guess part of the moral is to be careful for what you wish.
